Chess in Boone, NC (part 1)

The time has come where classes are starting back up for the new semester, basketball preseason training has begun, and activities for Campus Recreation are being planned.  These things have made life pretty busy for me the last few weeks, and I have unfortunately not been able to spend much time with this great game (much less posting game analysis).

Before all the rush, though, I was able to spend some time in Boone, North Carolina with my good friend Shannon Huffman, where we walked around the beautiful mountains, watched some entertaining anime (Ouran High School Host Club and Xam'd), and, most importantly, played some serious chess.  We played 3 epic games.  I lost all 3.  I've already described the first one here and here.  Today we shall examine the second, where I, as White, went up a minor piece and got overly confident.  Shannon won the piece back with a discovered attack on my Queen.  He was able to finish me off after I hung a knight.

The third game will be featured in the next post, which displays an exciting middlegame and tricky endgame situation.  As usual, feel free to leave comments, questions, and opinions.  What did I miss?  Where did I go wrong?
