1 Peter 2:9 - "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvellous light;"

What once was in style will not always be in style - if you always seek to fit in with what is happening
in the times, you may never find your own identity!

What an interesting topic today!  What is up with the tie-dye clothes and the country music?

Today's theme is about always trying to fit in.  What concessions do you make in life to "fit in"?  To
what lengths will you go to "fit in"?

If you look to mankind for your standard in life, you may find that the standard you choose shifts from
day to day.  One minute, a certain celebrity is setting the trends for us - the next, it is another
celebrity.  Music styles, clothes, cars, haircuts...things change with the times.

With God, it is not this way.  He has created you as a unique individual with awesome gifts to be
used.  He did not make you to be just like everyone else - YOU ARE UNIQUE.  We read in 1
Corinthians 12:21 - "And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again
the head to the feet, I have no need of you."  In like manner, you cannot always seek to be just
like everyone else - you are unique in your own regards.

Of course, reviewing this from a Christian standpoint, we are advised not to always seek the world's
standards, but God's standard.  He says we are "peculiar" - this comes from a Greek complex word
"eis" and "peripoiēsis", which means you are purchased!  You are bought by the blood of Jesus - you
no longer belong to yourself.  Christ wants to shape your style, your way of thinking, your personality,
into "the stature of the fulness of Christ"!

The next time you think you need to make concessions to fit in - remember - GOD MADE YOU
SPECIAL!  No need for the tie-dye!

God bless!
