My First Online Game

Submitted by CoachTabales on Thu, 12/06/2007 at 8:26am.

Below is the result of my first game here on this website.  In fact, it's the result of the first game I've ever played online.  I'm not much of a player, but I'm looking to improve my game.  This method of playing however has proven to be a pretty good source for me because it really gave me the chance to think about my moves.  This is the game notation.

If anyone that reads this post can review this and give me some feedback I would appreciate it.  I'll post more on this game when I get a chance.  I'm at work right now and can't get to far into it.

I appreciate the feedback.  I will look to edit it soon so as to display the board as suggested.  I didn't now that was there.  As far as the using of the Ruy Lopez, as crazy as it may sound, it's the only open that I understand enough to use.  Do not confuse that with being good at it.  I just like the control factor in it.  Because of the way I play, it's only as aggresive as I want it to be.

The bishop sacrifice move was something I thought long and hard over.  I wasn't sure if being that aggresssive that early was such a good idea at the time.  But it just looked like if I didn't get aggressive first, that he would.  It worked out for me, but I'm really going to go back and study that one a little more before trying it again.   I don't know about you being "...not much of a player...", not after reviewing this game.  I think this was the Ruy Lopez opening you used, which is an agressive and developmental opening game.  Sacrificing your bishop early to draw out your opponent's king was gutsy, shattering any tempo he was trying to gain in his opening game by instantly throwing him on the defensive...signs of a seasoned/mature player.

Regardless of the careless/desperate moves your opponent made, your offensive pressure on him was 'indeed' impressive.  Cheers!!

very cool! just so you know, not many people will take the time to play through your game if you don't post it as a replayable game. do you see the chessboard in the toolbar where you type? click on that and you can paste your game PGN in there!
