Finally, a Decent Check-Mate Against my Rival!

Submitted by Fierce_Br on Fri, 11/07/2008 at 4:17am.

It seems that, all though I play well for a few months, my games, especially against experienced players, become exhausting. My objectives are not right: instead of focusing on check-mate, I tend to spend my time capturing too many pieces. Most of my wins have been by resignition, or an inevitable check-mate when I have three pieces, against a lonely King.

But today I managed to check-mate my brother, my rival, in an elegant way, for a begginer anyways. After forcing him to capture my Bishop with his King, and thus taking away his right to castle, I forced his Majesty into a trap: I had him in check with a Knight. He moved closer, as a response I uncovered a Rook that was hidden behind the Knight. After another attempt to rescue his King by means of retreat, I check-mated him with my Queen, protected by the Knight and assisted by the Rook, leaving him nowhere to run. ^^
