61* 61 Home Runs By Roger Maris

I just won my 61st chess.com tournament and it recalled growing up as a St Louis Cardinal fan watching Roger Maris both as an opponent with the Yankees in the 1964 World Series and later as a St Louis Cardinal. Roger Maris will forever be known as the man that took Babe Ruth's record.

Maris was hated, booed, cussed, and generally abused by the press, and fans. But he did it steroid free just as I won my 61 computer free. Here's to Roger Maris!!

Before my time, but I remember my father could name every player and all their stats.

I've heard it from him so many times...about their All Star infield...that I STILL remember... Bill White, Julian Javier, Dick Groat, and Ken Boyer!

Yep they also won the 67 Series against Red Sox but lost the 68 series despite Bob Gibson having that amazing year of 1.12 era which led to lowering the pitcher's mound.  Remember the El Birdos and Orlando Cha Cha Cepeda?

Cards won that series - with Ken Boyer hitting a grand slam.

(btw...He was a distant relative on my dad's side).
