Kasparov Defeats the Scheveningen Part II

Submitted by KillaBeez on Thu, 06/25/2009 at 9:43am.

Yesterday, I tried to post a game between Kasparov and Anand.  Kasparov won fairly quickly thanks to a big kingside initiative.  However, when I hit the save and preview button, my internet froze and I was unable to post it.  So technically, this is part 3 in the series.  For anyone who wants to see the game between Kasparov and Anand, look up Kasparov winning as white in the Scheveningen.  Okay, so here is a game between Kasparov and Polugaevsky.  The game starts with an aggressive Keres Attack and then quiets down into an ending.

Fun to watch. I'll be looking forward to part 4! You're very good at annotating games!

Kasparov is a great expert in this opening, he played it with black a lot (from the najdorf move order)

khpa21: d6, Nc6, and e6 are all playable in that position.  After e6, White doesn't play e5 because of Qa5+

Percyval: I will do as you requested tommorrow.  So it will be Kasparov defeats the Scheveningen Part III.  Then I will do a 3 part series on Kasparov playing the Scheveningen.

I think the Castle by black was a very bad idea.

Wonderfully played endgame by Kasparov, but why didn't Polugayevsky take on g7 before it was too late?

btw, I believe d6 is supposed to allow Nf6 without having to worry about e5.
