Submitted by KillaBeez on Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:23pm.

Since starting a year ago, I have learned a lot about how to deal with chess psychology mentally and what to do.  Let me share with you some of my insights.  My very first tournament started very badly.  I lost to a 900 in the first round and h... Read more »

I just recently got Chessmaster GM edition and I really like it.  I think that the Art of Learning section is really good.  I would recommend it to everybody.  The new mini games are fun to do when you are bored. Read more »

Thoughts from WCC Round 2

Submitted by KillaBeez on Wed Oct 15, 2008 11:43am.

I did not like Kramnik's opening choice at all.  I thought his gambit didn't quite work out for him because he surrendered the bishop pair.  I do not like the choice of the NImzo Indian in this match.  I would have thrown something relatively s... Read more »

Submitted by KillaBeez on Tue Oct 14, 2008 12:02pm.

During History class, I was watching the first round of the WCC here on chess.com.  I was rather disappointed as to the opening choice.  However, I thought that Kramnik was either not prepared against Anand's Slav or was saving his best lines an... Read more »

I was a positional player by nature.  I would try to win by tiny positional advantages.  But I became bored with chess.  It wasn't quite so fun anymore.  I began stalling in many games, simply tired and burnt out of making move... Read more »

My Worst Loss of all time

Submitted by KillaBeez on Sun Aug 3, 2008 6:21am.

This was a game that I played where I had a complete and easy win, but totally lost the game.  I'm still banging myself over the head after this one.  Hope this is a lesson not to get overconfident. Read more »

Drawish is the new decisive

Submitted by KillaBeez on Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:09pm.

After playing chess for about a year now, I have stumbled upon a great inconsistency in my play.  I used to be very agressive and daring.  But when I combine two of my three USCF tournaments during that era, I get 8 draws, 5 wins, and no... Read more »

From tactical to positional

Submitted by KillaBeez on Thu Jul 17, 2008 1:02pm.

When I first started playing chess about a year ago, I was very tactical.  My success was based on nice attacks on the opponent's king.  Some of the attacks were unsound, but I kept working at it.  My tactical vision improved to wel... Read more »
