Color Theme Help...

Submitted by KnightNotHorse on Sat, 03/08/2008 at 5:20am.

Oftentimes when I am playing around with my themes, I see all the hex values for these different colors and need a bit of a "cheat sheet" to remember which color is which.  Here are your cheat sheets - these are different sites that have the hex values for different colors.  The first site below is a nice one - you can copy the hex value from your profile, paste it into this site, and it will tell you what color it is, and give alternates.  Enjoy!

http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html (can enter hex value to see what color it is)

Keep in mind that when building themes from scratch, it is easy to pick out the colors.  However, if you see another member's theme that you like, but maybe want to make his/her blue highlight a little darker for your own liking, then you have to know what color he/she used originally --this is where these websites above come in handy.

I asked the following question regarding themes and got this answer:

Q: "I have to delete one of these to create or use new ones, does that also delete it from the entire chess.com system"

A: Yes.  As the original author, when you delete your theme, it is wiped from the system.  Anyone using that theme will be reverted to the standard chess.com theme.
