My first OTB tournament

Unfortunately, it was 5|0 blitz. I frequently play blitz games with my friends, but most of the times it's with an increment of 2 or 3 seconds. However, the tournament was dedicated to Vasja Pirc (1907-1980), Slovenian chess player.

As the tourney was played on Wednesday, 19/12/2012, I can't remember every game, but will briefly describe just some important/interesting facts.

First game: BLACK (vs. 1716).
It was my very first "official" OTB game. I have no FIDE rating, so my rating was 1500. It started 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 e6, not very my type of play, but I managed to win a pawn and pinned a knight to his king. Then he moved his knight and made illegal move. I told him the king is in check. He put the knight back and play continued. Since I was unexperienced, I didn't know I must tell the mistake to the arbiter immediately!
I lost on time then, and was very angry. 0/1. Great start...

Second game: WHITE (vs. 1623).
After the 1st game, I saw when my friend was playing against my next opponent. He played very well, but had little time on his clock. So do opp. Opponent lost on time first, but friend didn't noticed and he also lost on time. I though I had a chance for my first point!

But then disaster.

0 out of 2. To be honest, I was affraid of final result. 11 rounds...

Third game: BLACK (vs. 1575)
The game started 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 Nf6 3.Nc3 dxc4 4.Qa4+ Nc6 5.Qxc4. Another surprise with Reti. I mean, I almost never played it as black, just as white, but in a way Kramnik did in 2010 World Blitz Championship. However, I managed to win somehow, with checkmate in 2 on the first rank.

Fourth game: WHITE (vs. 1500)
This one was not something special. I won quite quickly with "Petrov's trap".

Fifth game: BLACK (vs. 1500)
Again not very difficult game, Four knights with 4.Bb5. After I won a queen for a bishop and a couple of pawns, it was the end pretty soon.

Sixth game: WHITE (vs. 1500)
Very interesting game with participant of the WYCC in Maribor - Anej Bevk Peternelj! Despite the fact, he is only 8 years old, he played extremly well. I won a knight, but it was very dificult to win (of course not in a longer game, but in 5|0). He lost on time after good opening stage with Pirc 1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 g6 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.Be2 O-O

Seventh game: BLACK (vs. 1500)
I decided to have a break with an easy game with my friend, with whom I played more than 1000 games. 

Eighth game: BLACK (vs. 1500)
Another quick decision. We played like this:

Not very tough since there was scholar's mate. Our board finished the round first! 

Ninth game: WHITE (vs. 1500)
There was another friend of mine who was waiting for me. In the last couple of games we played he lost most of them, so he was ready for revenge.
My play was once again a disaster. Actually not in the opening like in the 2nd round, but in the middlegame. We played Ruy Lopez, Norwegian attack. I struggled after I predominated on the queenside.  But on the king side, I had g&h pawns on 3rd line, my king on h2 & a rook nearby. He had 2 knights, a bishop and a queen. Although he was low on time, there was at least a perpetual check. But he tried to win and lost just 4 moves before checkmate!

My score after nine rounds: 6,5/9. What a success! Mission completed.  

Tenth game: BLACK (vs. 2019)
I consider this game as one of my best on this tourney. Opponent won the tournament with 11/11 & has 2000+. I lost the game due to time pressure, because I made some inacurracies.

He always kept about half a minute advantage, so at the end it was very fast and interesting since the game was one of the closing of the 10th round. 
However, he trapped me a knight later in a game, but I "took the command" over his queen side pawns. At the end I pushed c-pawn till the 2nd rank, but he stopped it with a bishop & I resigned with just a few seconds on the clock. 

Eleventh game: WHITE (vs. 1789)
In this game we played Phillidor & I hoped for repetition 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.Bc4 Bg4 4.Nc3 Qf6?! 5.Nd5 Qd8 6.Nc3 c6. Maybe it would be better to play to win the game, but after I stupidly blundered a knight, I was glad to make 6,5/11, and finished on 6th position out of 12 contenders.
(+6 -4 =1) 

At the end, if I was FIDE member, I would be now rated 1653 (because 4/12 players wasn't "rated"). Otherwise, it could be 1777.
