Meadows v brfc

Last time the University's B team played against Pete's Potentials, I was playing for the A-team.  At the end of the day, it was a 2-2 draw.  This was the rematch.

This game is the board 1 match between brfc and me.  I won't waffle on, so here it is:

We defaulted on board 4 and board 3 won so the win/draw hung in the balance with our board 2 who was down a piece.  With about 2 minutes left both players picked up the pace and we were very fortunate that a 3-fold repetition occurred.  Yay!  2.5-1.5!

I think turning up with 3 was a ploy Tom .  They did that when we went to the uni,  I stood down then, and they knew I would stand down again.  Sneaky one Michael. I've sussed you.  ROFL

C'mon.  who's afraid to play me?? eh??

But Pete is a strong player Mike, the Colle is solid, and Simon would've struggled. Your Bd 3 would've been pummeled and we know our Bd 4 can beat you. So you only having 3 ppl was an advantage for you! I guess it wasn't only Simon that was Jammy :P

Good point and well made Pete.  On the other hand, it could be said that we showed up with 3 players and still won. Tongue out

Can I point out it to all not there. It was only an easy win for the Uni because they failed to turn up with 4 players.  I stood down and moved my 4 and 3 boards up a board. Even so my 3 board (now playing on board 2) was stuffing the uni board 2. material up.

Time was short for both players. My 11 year old, stuffing the uni player, fell for a 3 fold repetition.  Only way the Uni could win the match. Take advantage of an 11 year olds lack of experience and claim a draw.  I wouldn't be that proud of the Uni's win Mike. So maybe YAH 2.5  1.5 sucks.

Good game! It's always difficult defending against pressure like that, but that was well controlled through to the ending. Nice!

Yeah the Qd4 was a bit of a mistake in hindsight, but it was the best time for me to start hassling the queen.  The queen being on the board made the exchange worth it.  But it's my annotations, brfc may choose to give it ? if he likes Tongue out

Also, Rxc3 is Fritz 11's first choice.  I should have made that clearer.

I think 24. Qd4 should be ? rather than ?! lol. The black queen is hardly a threat on her own!

Also does the computer agree with the exchange sac? I havent really looked at it, but normally without the DSB it's not so good...

I liked our game. i saw the winning a piece, but to be honest I think you needed to get rid of my queen. Well played though, I'll go over it with you very soon!
