Confusion reigns! I've been playing you in a couple of games, in a tourney we both signed up for. Spoke to you, wished you good luck on our tourney even, and you ignored me! Not one word in response. Where I'm from, that's considered rude. Especially in chess. I see now that you are young; maybe that's the factor. Forgive me if I'm blunt; I'm only trying to be honest. And I may be a crotchety old 56-year-old lady to you; that's OK. I remember having a little ageism-problem at the time; I was young, a little arrogant, and foolish even. Had this thing about 'never trusting anybody over 30.' It's been a mission of mine on a personal level to try to promote peace and civility on this planet; it's the ONLY way for us to survive! Maybe world peace will somehow follow. Trying to follow in the footsteps of one of my heroes, John Lennon. He (and yes, Yoko too) often spoke against all those -ism's.
I don't know; I'm confused. Please clarify! Left you a note during our game. I've started a few friendships thanks to this lifeline here, just by saying hello, or responding when my opponent did so. We have every right to choose our friends, every right to be rude even. But I believe in kindness.
Not to proselytize here, but the Dalai Lama has said: My religion is simple. My religion is kindness.
(I'm serious, this site/chess in general has been a lifeline for me: I've been SO depressed, unable to fulfill my chosen profession, nursing, due to my health. I'm very sick, probably will be in hospital again this week, my BP's been crazy, in the stroke-zone. I have a lot of timeouts due to my health, not being able to finish games for being bed-ridden or hospitalized. Not complaining, just my lot. That's one reason ratings here can be considered arbitrary also. I'd like my rating to be higher, but it's OK. I'm having fun, making friends, maybe even extending my life expectancy a little bit.) ;)
Peace and love
Angie

I AM YOUR FRIEND!!

Chess is not about popularity, perhaps you mistook us for myyearbook. What you should concern yourself with is more important matters, such as having fun with this great game of ours. By playing games with other members, you will naturally meet other people. If you want a 'reputation' on chess.com, think about what kind of content you may be able to add in the form of a blog or forum posts. That is how I have met people, playing chess and putting up meaningful content.
