Diet Time

Submitted by OSUBUCKEYE on Sat, 06/07/2008 at 8:35am.

OK, Ok, I have decided it is time to loose this freaking weight. Being that I turned 55 a few weeks ago and at 6-2 and carrying around 265+ it is either time to loose the weight or buy a casket and get the plot ready. I have no idea how this will change my chess game, I can see me getting perhaps a little short tempered, so if I offend anyone over the next few months please refer back to this blog.

Visiting both the doctor as well as the gym today.

To bad chess is not more physical then it is. Setting here at the lap top sure isn;t helping me at all. There is an idea physically base chess.....mmmmmmmmm.

Take care and wish me luck, or at least the will power to do this.

I've found that playing my chess games on a board helps me get better. So I look at my game on the computer, then make my opponents move on the board. Intense staring and thinking follows. I then choose my favourite blunder, go to the computer and make it.

If you were to put a chess board up stairs, laptop down stairs, well you can see where I'm going with this.

Obviously, you can only really play one game, so probably best doing live chess, rather than sitting at the board for 3 days :)

Before you know it, you'll be a slim man with big chess skills.

There may be an easy solution.  A few years ago I wanted to sign up for a function which included a sumptuous dinner.  I didn't have enough money in my wallet so I told the organiser, "I'll email you the money."

"No problem," she said. "I'll email you the food!"

That's your solution Osubuckeye:  eat only virtual food.  It has only virtual calories.

I used to work out with a deck of cards.  It's been a while, but it was something like this.  One suit would be push-ups, another sit-ups, another jumping jacks, and the fourth was squats.  The number of reps would match what the card showed, with obvious modifications for picture cards.  Anyway, one can envision something similar with chess.  Make a move, ten push-ups.  Take a piece, do 20.  Lose a piece, squats.  Lose the game, run a marathon.  You get the idea!
