Entirely possible, but it must be done within the 50 move rule or we get a draw. The fun part is getting to this "magic position."

You can pracice positions like this with the computer here at chess.com, along with a number of other must-know positions. To learn how to mate with K+B+N vs K, I spend 3 or 4 consecutive days analyzing ideas on a board and then trying them out against Fritz.

Firstly, I tried to do it without any theory and spent some time failing but learning a lot of how not to do it.

Then, I did some study and learned say, "Deletang's triangles." I would then practic/rehearse that idea on a board for a while, and then go and attack Fritz with it. Later, I would do the same with other methods designed to force the enemy king to the edge of the board.

By day 3, I was pretty good at pushing Fritz (or Crafty, or Rybka) around, but lacked the required killing technique. So I went back to study and found out about the "W technique."  Back to the board to practice the hell out of the idea, and then back to give Fritz a bit of long overdue grief.

The whole process of forcing it into long-term memory took the better part of a week, but I feel I earned it and know for sure now that I can pull it out when needed. Also, as they say, "use it or lose it," so I still like to play this position just to make sure that it is still in there, and stays there.
