Unorthodox play in Sicilian defense

Like as other games before, I post this game as a blog because its dear to me. I played this game against my friend here on chees.com. It was a nice game, I think that he made mistake in the opening which I used nicely. He have some chances but he missed them. This game is not perfect, but we are both rated over 2000 so I think that it will be nice to watch, even to see how we make some mistakes. I hope that you will enjoy in watching this game as much as I enjoy playing it. Here comes the game :

Point is that he underestimated power of the pin, he had lot of opportunites to terminate the pin, but he didnt done any such thing. From some reason I dont really know why it seemed to me that he really liked his bishop on that squere, I cant understaned why he didnt move the bishop, he could simply play bishop to f7 and that will solve the imediete problem. Never the less I still think that white is better positionaly in the position which would arise after those moves.

I am glad that you liked this game.

On move 18, immediately after Bc4, I see no reason why black can not just play Nf4 and get rid of the whole pin problem.  On Bxf4 he has Bxc4, and on Bxe6 he has Nxe6, and on most anything else, he can take your light-squared bishop and then put the knight wherever.  After that, however, it does get more difficult to squirm out of the problem.

WinkThe Sicilian with it's many different lines remains without doubt one of the very best defenses against White's King Pawn Opening!  SmileThe Dragon Variation is a two-edged sword which cuts both ways!  If handled properly Black should obtain winning chances!  An interesting game though!  -  ChessPaladin2009Cool

I know that this is accelerated dragon, but I didnt really know anything else. I just knew this first 5-6 moves, and after that I was on my own. I didnt face this kind of Sicilian defense very often. My opponents usually play Naidorf, normal sicilian or Khan variation, I even faced Sveshnikov and Dragon a couple of times, but very rarely. This was compleatly new terain for me, I improvised during the hole game, and thats why I blog this game.

accelerated dragon is 100% sound. Nxc6 is a mistake in my view.

There are many ways to handle the position that arises after 4..g6. My personal preference is to continue with 5.c4 and enter a Maroczy Bind.

The opening he played is called the accelerated dragon, which is not as exciting as normal dragon lines. I think you carried out development very well and have a good understanding of the position.
