34 years

Submitted by PerfectGent on Wed, 12/03/2008 at 12:25pm.

sorry its a day late but i was tied up.

yesterday 2nd dec 2008 was my 34th wedding anniversary.

34 years with the greatest lady in the whole universe. The rock to which my life is anchored.

In this crazy world of instant divorce how did we manage it?

in a sentence 'hard work and mutual trust'

We started by sorting out all the important questions before the wedding then set a few rules in place.

1: joint bank account

2: for each a night out each week and no questions asked.

now i have spoken to many who have said they would not trust their partner with either of these two ideas - my answer was; then why are you getting married???

34 years just seems like a long time Smile unless you are married to an angel.

Thank you all for your kind replies Smile

Last night we had our anniversary dinner at one of the best restaurants in scotland.

It is The Grange Inn and is a must if you ever get to visit St Andrews. Below is an oil painting i made of the inn some years ago;

Congratulaton on 34 years and I hope many more for you and your wife.  I will reach that mark in another 16 years.  My parents made 64 years of marriage.

Dear Pete,

all the best to the pair of you! Obviously your recipe is a sound one for a long marriage, even if one would argue that possibly you two would have gotten along in any case Wink

My congratulations!

Pete and Mrs Pete.. congrats to you both. Making a marriage work is exactly that "work".. and every day is worth it - whether its a simple smile, saying the words " i love you" or just knowing the other is there...

I sincerely wish you and mrs. pete many more loving happy years together.
