Correspondence chess is really more of a game of chess scholarship than chess ability (Thus my USCF correspondence rating is a full class lower that my over-the-board rating.) It takes a lot of discipline to work your way through a correspondence game, and the incontinuity of the thought process make it a challenge to maintain an idea. I admit that I made more concessions than I should in this game, but when it came to the critical points, I found the right ideas at the right time. I'm sure the engines would disagree, but I feel i get more out of a game by finding my own improvements and flaws. Thus I don't use the engines.
