Yes, its offical, im addicted to theme tournaments!

Here is another :)  Grob's Attack Open Tournament

There has been a forum thread here talking about this opening, "The Grob"... The fact that it has been poo pooed of course made me want to try it out! I love surprises and random openings so this should be the ticket.

I reckon if its good enough fer some masters, it is good enough fer some of us to have a laugh with and hopefully learn something too. I have never played it but it is said that its strength lies in its surprise and that few know how to reply to it.... lets see if we can learn together..

20 games minimum requirement.
I've kept the group size small so as to not bring too many games to us all at once.  Depending on demand i may lower the player limit, ill wait at least a few days for interest to gather.

Cheers and have fun learning as i sure will :)

(from wikipedia:

"Grob's Attack is an unconventional chess opening where White immediately moves the king knight's pawn two squares ahead:

1. g4

The opening takes its name from Swiss International MasterHenri Grob (1904–1974) who analyzed it extensively and played hundreds of correspondence games with it. In Grob's newspaper column analyses of this opening, he referred to it as the Spike Opening, a name which still enjoys limited usage.

Other early references used the name Ahlhausen's Opening, after Carl Ahlhausen (1835–1892) of Berlin, one of the first to play 1.g4. Savielly Tartakower sometimes played this opening in simultaneous exhibitions and called it the Genoa or San Pier D'Arena Opening, after the city and suburb of Genoa where he first used it. In Czechoslovakia 1.g4 is called Fric's Opening, and in other parts of the world it is called Kolibri's Opening."
