openings

i maybe 14, but i am a good player. but for the nine years i have played chess the only openings ive used all my life is the scotch for white and some birds eye thing for black. my question to the chess players out there is what are some of the best openings and worst in your opinions?what are good counters for any opening you might know of? i have no idea which opening is which and what openings i should use for offense and ones for defense.  the only way i get better in chess is by knowledge, so learning openings will help.

Hey Vega I may not know all the best openings, but i did research online for a while and I found some of the better opening's.

Ok you already know one of them, the syphillian dragon or something like that as black and alot of people said queen's gambit for white.

 So,

white = queen's gambit

black = syphillian dragon

ive been watching some games by anyone i play and on the articles and apparently ive noticed that the kings gambit is a good opening often useful. but ive seen the pawns open up for white on both queenside and kingside.now ive noticed that the kingside if you dont play right thaT BLACK QUEEN WILL GET YOU IN A WEIRD POSITION, BUT apparently it works. now ive seen the queens gambit id like to call it and so far thats my favorite opening ive seen.i need to know exactly why thuis gambit opening works so well. ive tried and won most games with it but the ones i lost i used the kingside gambit thing and i just couldnt figure out why someone would use it. anyone like to clue me in on why kingside gambit is so useful?
