RC Woods VS the Economist

Submitted by RC_Woods on Thu, 02/05/2009 at 1:29pm.

This is a leisure game played over a couple of days in New York, 2009, between me and a strong Dutch player rated approx. 2300 elo. It should be noted that he did not play his usual Sicilian, allowing me to play the Italian game - the opening system I have been exploring for a while now. Also, while there was no pressure on either of us, I spend much more time on most of my moves.

That being said, I think I have every right to be happy with my play during the game. While I eventually lost, the game seemed very equal right to the very end. That I did loose after all is no more than reasonable I guess :).

You almost had the game, i think 55th move made the decision when you paralleled the rooks while there was a golden chance of having a rook by making a check move.

But you were in the game and the ongoing player have the than the commenting one.

Anyways, that was a good game.
