Paul Morphy Spoof From 1858

Submitted by RookHouse on Mon, 05/12/2008 at 6:30am.

I came across this hilarious article from an old Harper’s Weekly magazine.  It portrays Paul Morphy as “Jack the Giant-Killer” and gives a spoof on his adventures in Europe in 1858.  Fair warning, fans of Staunton may not enjoy the article as much as I did.

Very entertaining and good example of a historical piece of satirical journalism.
