Smart or tactical?

Are you playing smart or are you playing tactically? I have enjoyed playing chess from as long back as I can remember. Whether it was my grandpa teaching me how the pieces move as a boy or as a young man pulling out a chess board to kill some down time in combat I have always enjoyed the game. I never played any "real" chess players until I made a friend back in August that was incredible. He taught me to study various openings, the ideas behind various strategies, and how to think tactically. While I am never going to be the next Bobby Fischer I feel light years ahead of where I was even as an experienced adult. Are you smart or tactical?
