The BBC on Armenian Chess In Schools
The decision by the Armenian government to make chess in schools compulsory has put chess in the mainstream media headlines around the world for positive reasons for a change.
Despite some evidence to suggest that chess helps improve critical and logical thinking skills, I'm not in favour of making it a compulsory subject in schools.
But I do feel that chess could be used far more by schools as a positive (and cheap) activity for children to play.
