The Chess Art Of Carina Jørgensen

A while ago I discovered 21-year old Danish artist Carina Jørgensen (pictured right, engaging in some martial arts training!), who has a section of her online portfolio dedicated to chess.  It includes portraits of famous chess players as well as fantasy images, such as "The Dreaming Pawn" seen below.

Thanks for creating such great images, Carina, and good luck in all your future endeavours!

Wauw, thanks you guys! I had to sign up here just to comment, as Ryan notified me about the post. I'm really glad to see all your feedback and those who got in touch with me over the site. It's exactly for people like you that I draw chess art. The chess community is always so appreciative.

Also note that there's a section where I've made a lot of chess cartoons, starting from 07. Especially if people play on ICC they might find this entertaining. Otherwise, there's a lot simply drawing concepts in chess.

    Love you guys Smile

"Carina has a wonderful gift for painting eyes"

Indeed, Kasparov's are amazing.  Nice work.  Cute girl... *tries to aviod ovious pinning & mating jokes*

Top pics, SoP.    Carina has a wonderful gift for painting eyes, perhaps none better than those of the Black King.  Aand I loved the way she managed to capture some innocence in the young Fischer.

I vaguely remember an incident in Australian chess some years ago when a male chess player protested (after losing a game, I think) about being distracted by his female opponent's dress mode.  (He couldn't drag his eyes from the cleavage to the chessboard.) He was apparently quite serious but became the butt of a lot of jokes.  That said, I think I'd have trouble concentrating if my opponent turned up dressed like the Queening Pawn.
