The Worst Way To Lose?

I'm currently playing a lot of games against opponents quite a lot stronger than myself, and I'm having a pretty hard time of it.  By way of some repentant self-flagellation, I have exhibited two horrible losses below for your entertainment.

So the question is this: Which of these is the greatest sin against the chess goddess Caissa? 

1. To fight hard against a stronger opponent, and just when an unlikely draw is finally in sight, blow the game with a simple oversight?  See Exhibit A

2. To play without any plan and allow yourself to be completely overwhelmed without even putting up a fight?  See Exhibit B
