Playing OTB after a long break. Part II Winawer game

Hi again,

Last night was round 3 of the club tournament I a currently playing in. I had tried to find some games by the guy I was facing on the internet, but all I could find were games from 1999, so I knew I probably shouldn't trust that he would play the same lines now.

I noticed that back then he had played the Tarrasch when faced with the French defense, which is my defense of choice when I play black against 1.e4, so I used half an hour yesterday to go through som lines in the Modern variation (1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3. Nd2 a6!?), but thought maybe I should also look into some lines with 3.Nc3.

Usually I have played 3.Nc3 Nf6, but recently I haven't done too well with this, so I figured I might give the Winawer a chance. Therefore I spent half an hour running through lines in the Winawer, which proved to be useful.

So enough chit-chat, here is the game:

So by now I am 3/3, and looking forward to next Monday where the penultimate round is played.

Yeah, it seems you are right! He definitely had the opportunity to turn the game around, but he played too passive this time.
