I have been busy buying up tons of chess books, cd's, dvd's, software programs, etc. I have been working on a MS Access relational DB (database). It will let you search tons of ways, so is great for customers, students, chess club members, teachers, tutors, coaches, and business owners.
I am logging in tons of details in building it. I am using MS Project professional 1300.00 cost app. i will be working on it all of 2012, as this is a hug project. There are thousands of books over 6,000 and counting on chess alone. i have over 2,000 chess video and dvd and CBFT (chessbase fritz trainers) to log in (include).
This allows my club to be the only one in the local area with most and also NEWEST chess stuff to study or train with. In short Martin's club will be "in the dark or out of touch aka obselete". We will have all the best to train and progress with. Maybe then he will "see the light". my goal is to have a 100% digital ebook "book shelf" for chess books...so when I show up, I carry an entire library of chess books. This lets you have a ready answer as oppossed to the club Martin has which has to pack, carry, tote, thousands of books and cd and dvd, etc. All I need is POWER ISO to make 30 "virtual drives" and run the dvd or cd as an iso. How cool is that?
I already tested it and was able to 'load" 30 dvd's in virtual drives. All you have to do is play or pause any drive. No need to change disks. They all store and run from external hard drives ! It is nice to have tons of chess resources, something Martin will never know. I add over $1500.00 a week in new chess books, cd's, dvd's just for chess alone, just the chess cost alone. I doubt the "other club" spends that investment per year...let alone per week. I stay broke doing it, sacrifice for a future...but one day it pays off !
We will be able to show and quote and have resources on hand to prove it. They will not be able to carry that much stuff and will not have MS Access to key up reports or search many different ways. you have to add vertical columns or "headers" called "fields" per "table". A database is made of many rows=records and fields (items or categories...things to sort by) then all those tables are linked by a "primary key". Then you make "forms" and input data faster. You can use or save AS "templates" TO SAVE TIME. templates are reusable and you can edit/make changes, then rename it as new template.
