Conversing

Had an enlightening conversation after a looooooong game of chess today. It was very political and dived deep into religion. Much as I hate those kinds of conversations, (actually love em!) I hate even more being beat at chess. He wasn't that great of a player nor was he distinguished at all in the rules of chess(had to correct him numerous times), but he still beat me, actually he kicked my ass. I thought I had him in check mate numerous times but he always managed to show me I hadn't. What does that say about my stupidity at times like those?

Well, basically what I gathered from the conversation is that I don't nor have I ever cared what other people think(about politics and religion and life in general)..... I do to an extent but it still plays no role in what I believe, it doesn't change my mind. It may open up view points that I haven't seen yet, but, inevitably, I'm still left with my own ideas on the matter at hand. We had many great topics, Bush happened to cross the plate many times, and I'm hoping deeply that my recruitment officer never hears about it but still...... very enlightening, as all political and religious talk should be. We never once raised a hand in defence of our views nor pushed on each other an obligation to accept our own.

Great talks with the bar tender and hope there's plenty more to come...
