Fortune Cookies & Chess

I enjoyed a bountiful meal of Chinese food today and of course ended my take-out with hot tea and fortune cookies. I read two great pertaining-to-chess quotes --
Look ahead or you won't get ahead.The analysis board is very good about helping refine this skill. Also, I must add that since I've been using it, better rated players who play against me usually say, "Good game"at the end. So this tells me that rating is just another number....if someone says "Good Game" and means it, then my chess skills must be on the rise.....
Let your hook be always cast. In the pool where you least expect it, will be fish.This quote makes me consider those subtle surprises that can occur -- the one minute, little move that turns it all around.....many fish.
