Annotated Game: 2

I played this game against my school principal a couple nights ago. A few blunders led to one of the most exciting endgames I have ever seen. Enjoy and share your thoughts.

As you can see, endgame blunders can and almost always will cost you a win. Fortunately for us both we were able to fight for the draw since both of us made late blunders. I learned alot from this game. Make sure when playing in your own games, spend as much time as you need on each of your moves and don't submit until you've analyzed the whole board. Especially in the endgame where every little move counts. Also, it is probably not the best of ideas to play chess at 3 in the morning. Hope you enjoyed and learned. Smile

Instead of 9. Nf3 he could of played an interesting 9. f4 that would complicate the game.

12. Bc4 loses a tempo because after that you could of simply captured his e4-pawn with your knight. If he recaptures then you fork his bishop and knight.

After move 16. f3 you were fairly equal.

I have to agree with you on the move 21. Kh1.

37... Nc4+ would be a bolder move on your behalf because it would give you the chance of swinging over your knight to his kingside and setting up a nice attack from behind.

Overall, it was a good game. Your principal plays really good!
