My First OTB in about 5 years!

I have been playing consistently for about months now.  Played chess for a long while, on/off. Learned early...Ahem...anycase, here is my first OTB (over-the-board) game in about 5 years.

Later I was informed that he was an expert (2000+ rating).  He told me that I would be rated around 1600, which I was extremely happy with, as I had always been at about 1400 prior to starting to play on here. Smile

This next one I had played a week later as Black against someone new. I was feeling good about some previous games online prior, and was playing well. Until...take a look lol.

Although a loss, I got to take a new outlook at playing the Hippo more formerly and effectively, ever increasing my skills! :D In time, in time...
A winning game of mine with the Polish! Check it.

    @ace:

    The sicilian defense is by no means simple.  As many players use c5 as a response for e4, the defense is not suitable for low rated players.  As soon as they get out of opening theory they often find it difficult in how to manage after, as the ideas, pros/cons of it are lost on them until further learning past opening theory.

    The Hippo has taken awhile to learn its theory, but as you stated, I have moved on to learn the Alekhine currently and a bit at the Budapest, though am disappointed with the latter.

    no offence but i think you should try some other opening(not the ippo defense)

    here are some openings I think you might want top look into for black:

    sicilian(dragon) siciliann(accelalerated dragon) sicilian(najsdorf) e5 four knights game,and one that I heard of but dont know- the graqnd prix.

    remember, some of the simplest openings are the best

    Indeed, patience and examination is what helped for him (and myself).  I didn't win, but I knew I was making him think! ^_^
