Neurodiversity

Once upon a time, under my profile, in "Occupation" field, I had "Neurodiversity Evangelist." This is I qualified in paranthesis as more of a PRE-occupation, then directed you here.

•[Another chess.com member asked]: Ok.........what is a Neurodiversity Evangelist?

•[My response:] Well, that ain't my vocation, really. I have a day-job as a programmer, but some background is in order. I'm using the word "evangelist" loosely as in "a passionate advocate trying to spread awareness & acceptance".

• And you can lookup "Neurodiversity" on Wikipedia: "Neurodiversity is an idea that asserts that atypical (neurodivergent) neurological development is a normal human difference that is to be recognized and respected as any other human difference."

• My young son was diagnosed with moderate autism 2 years ago, although his communication area is more severe than moderate; I try to speak for him until we find a mode in which he can speak for himself.

• I'm not out for a cure or to place blame to get compensated. I'm just in favor of our society making equally arduous efforts in meeting these folks half-way inasmuch as they have been struggling to fit into ours.
