A Pleasing-to-the-Eye Theme

Submitted by Zug on Wed, 04/16/2008 at 8:03am.

Take a look at the following theme I have finally perfected called:

Green with Yellow Tapestry

Go to:

http://www.chess.com/home/edit_theme.html

and search on themes by the user name of Zug.  I worked pretty hard on this theme to make sure it doesn't hurt the eyes after long exposure - especially late at night when we're trying to figure out our next moves.

I hope you find it useful.

Well!  As of now (4-17-08), 15 people are using my theme!  There must be something good about it.  You really ought to take a look, because this theme is perfect for those long sessions online.

To silentfilmstar13,

Pastel colors are always good to use, but since much of your background is white, it causes lots of glare into the eyes late at night.  That's why I used yellow hues for most of the background.  Watch out for the purple color you're using in the headers.  It tends to clash with many colors, which limits its usability.

Great theme!  Most of the themes I see are too sharp.  I'm a fan of the soft, soothing design.  Check out my theme as well, as it's also very mellow.  It's called Paper Love.

Hey, thanks, SonofPearl!  I hope others who take a look at it realize its potential as a nice, soothing theme as well.

I've seen some pretty crazy, unusable themes, but that one is nice.

The chess.com Home Page is the same for everyone.  Themes only work when you are logged into your own Home Page.  For example, my "Favorite" entry for chess.com points to http://www.chess.com/home, which is my personal home page.  Once you login, a cookie is created, and the above link always knows where to go.
