First chess tourney

My first serious chess tournament was in St. Louis.  I played a gent by the name of Eric Ewalt.  I remember that i played the french and he played the advance variation. I became so nervous (because it was my first serious tourney, not because he played the advance) that my left hand went totally numb, and I was unable to write with it. (I am left-handed.)

 Naturally, I lost.

 Chess is beautiful and cruel.

Thanks for the tip Donald, although I had already noticed that feature. It didn't seem to me to add much to this blog, because it isn't really about the chess content of that game so much as the psychollogical content. If I write specific chess blogs, though (And I probably won't be able to resist) I will certainly make use of that feature!

You and I have a lot in common, it seems :)

A quick tip.  What would be very illustrative to those reading is if you add board to show the position of the opening...click the chess board icon...

That reminds me of the first concert I ever played (or attended, I didn't get out much, I still don't) I was playing bass in a band called "The Last Minute" and on stage, I got a huge cramp in my right bicep so I couldn't move my arm at all, I was able to hang on but the performance definitely suffered.
