Whenever it's your turn to move in an OTB game never touch a piece and look as if your hesitating and your, really unsure what to play it's common for beginners to do that they hold a piece they move it left then right then finally put the piece down on a square looking nervous unsure if they made the right decision then they slump back in their chair frustrated they wait to see what the other guy will do if you hesitate touch and fiddle nervously with your pieces it tells your opponent your confidence is not there they'll take advantage of that and prey on you don't touch pieces on the board always look at your opponents last move through your minds eye ask yourself what does he threaten? once you discover the reason for his move then look at all his other men and what their doing did he unmask an attack? is he's concentrating fire? look at all his pieces, Rooks, Bishops, Knights his pawn structure only when you understand his threat and his intended plan of attack you move always double check your own move to make sure it's safe and you didn't miss anything!
