rook sacrifice and a bit of luck

Submitted by alexandrumag on Sun, 02/08/2009 at 1:10pm.

This is a recent team game of mine, where I was under intense attack, but I left one of my rooks as bait and got lucky because my opponent captured it, which gave me a forced mate. I hope you enjoy.I sure did :)

Very nice Alex, you should be first to know that rooks are very tasty to capture :)

Dear Alexander, thank you very much for sincere and good words, you are absolutely right! By the way, my opponent "returned" to the game within 20 minutes after the beginning of "vacation". Both our games at WALLYJACK toutmament # 14 are now at a loss for him.

Some commemts on your game with itstheemu18. It seems to me that your opponent was too naive (or young, may be), and that your game was too risky- the Black pieces at center can do you a lot of harm!  When my game with BAGPUSS will come to an end (It seems that it might be theoretically valuable,
at least it might be intresting for those who play French), I will be glad to play with you  a match.
Sincerely yours,Alexander
