legend

Submitted by ancientpistol on Sat, 12/01/2007 at 11:28am.

this has nothing to do with chess. i've seen a preview/trailer of the new movie "i am legend"{ with will smith} several times now. is it me or does this look a lot like a remake of "the omega man"? just wondering aloud.

I think the book is simply "I am Legend" like you said, because if you get the 1970's print of "Omega Man" it has the subtitle "I am Legend". Both are by Richard Matheson.

Is "The Last Man on Earth" an Omega Man/I am Legend variant story? I haven't seen/read it at all.

yes, "The Last Man on Earth"  1964 .. [film starred Vincent Price]

The book is available from Amazon

And here I thought I was the only one who noticed. Of course, I don't know what age demo you all come from, but apparently even twentysomething nerds have not heard of "The Omega Man". Who knew?

Now the question is: can anyone confirm the existence of a novel predating "The Omega Man"? I would most certainly enjoy reading that.

I guess this means I have to try and find it too...

apparently yes it is the remake of the Charlton Heston film "the omega man" ..

And my better half says "for the geekier people among you, Vincent Price did the earliest version"
