Fried Liver no more!!

Submitted by bendcat on Mon, 08/20/2007 at 4:17am.

Last week I see a post of Traditional Fried Liver opening, this is a sharp opening and it gives a pressure to black's defense, if black don't know how to prevent it black will fall into trouble.

I'll show you first what's the consequence if you are not aware of this moves.

Mistakes, if black doesn't know.  Usually after 7. Qf3+ black safe move is Ke6.

But in this diagram players try to move other than Ke6.

Now how could we counter this Traditional Fried Liver. I see a lot of moves to counter this fried liver opening, but the only thing I will show you is one of my favorite counterattack, the Traxler Counterattack

1. e4 e5  2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 (d5 5. exd5 Nxd5 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Qf3+ Ke6) Bc5

These first four moves are the Traxler's Counterattack

1. e4 e5  2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 Bc5

The sample of great moves of this Traxler's Counterattack.

Now you will not be afraid of Fried Liver opening.

Ah yes, that makes more sense now, my mind must have gone blank for awhile, I was looking at Ng4+ and saw it would get taken by the Queen. Completely missed Nxe4+!

Anyways, thanks for clearing that up ^^;

Shruikon,

6.Kxf2 Nxe4+ is ussually followed by Black and it will create complication for white.

7.Kg1 (is the only best move for white King) Qh4

a threat checkmate in f2, then possible black rook can escape from white knight to be captured.

Could someone explain to me why 6.Kf1 is the best defense? What happens if 6.Kxf2?

Wonderfully carnivorous. I love these wild openings and you examined and presented them quite well. Thanks.

If you have a computer chess to analyze the game of Traxler counterattack, at first four moves the result in the analyzation of computer chess is so high, it means to the computer analyzation that your move is very wrong, but this move of Traxler is like thinking out of the box. Even white plays the best move it will result to win or draw. I try it in Fritz 5.32, and it result to a win, I'm not sure if it will done the same in your computer.

Fritz 5.32 vs Bendcat

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. g5 Bc5

5. Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6. Kf1 Qe7 7. Nxh8 d5 8. exd5 Nd4 9. d6 cxd6 10. Bf7+ Kf8
11. h3 Ng4 12. hxg4 Bg3 13. Bd5 Qf6+ 14. Bf3 Bxg4 15. Kg1 e4 16. Ng6+ hxg6 17.
Rh8+ Kf7 18. Rh7 exf3 19. Qf1 f2+ 20. Kh1 Bh5 21. Qc4+ Ne6 22. Rxg7+ Kxg7 23.
Qc7+ Nxc7 24. Nc3 Qh4# 0-1

Those are beautiful games! Thanks for posting them up here. Very nice to see the White King being chased all around the board indeed! Only thing is that Black can only win if White plays inaccurately. If White plays the best moves then Black can only concede that he has given too much material.

Well, I suppose most people wouldnt be expecting this Bc5 move. Have fun beating them with this nice king chase!! You probably win in most variations =)
