White's knights play a huge role in the game. They give themselves up on the same square to clear the way for his rook, leaving black's king in shambles. Even though it looks like he will hold on, another fabulous combination forces mate.

Kramnik's WC Match with Leko is very interesting. Going into the final, 14th game, he trailed 6-7 and needed a win to retain his title. He managed to hold on in a Caro-Kann, getting numerous positional advantages and marching his king up the board... Read more »

Tal goes all out for an attack in this game, sacrificing a rook to take down the black king's defences. For a while it seems that black will hold on, but a neat queen sacrifice forces mate.

This game is a long time favorite, involving several intriguing sacrifcies by Bronstein. His opponent is forced into a desperate situation and must give up his queen to survive, after which the game is over.

A showcase game from the 1992 rematch of Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. Fischer uses his development advantage to quickly formulate some pawn breaks. After drawing out the black king, the game is over.
