Off the Wall chess - The Joy of Sacs

Submitted by billwall on Fri, 03/28/2008 at 9:19pm.

It's always a good feeling when you can sac a major piece, such as a rook or queen, and it leads to mate.  In this game, my opponent castled into trouble and I had all the open files on the kingside when my opponent gobbled up three pawns for a bishop.  When the time was right, I sacrificed my rook to expose the enemy king, which lead to mate.  The lesson here is don't expose yourself too much or your opponent will discover the joy of sacs that lead to mate.

It's somehow comforting to know that such nice sacs at least involve the Lady.
