    Hi batgirl Sarah!

(How are you hanging? upside down lol rofl!!- sorry only being silly...)

Thanks for your great mating patterns.

I am particularly interested in Morphy's mate (what a genius chess player Morphy was!).

What are the game details for this match(ie who was Morphy playing etc-ideally I would like a pgn file of this game)that led to this mate?

Hoping for your help, regards to you

A nice list, the only one I truly knew befor seing it was the smothering mate. I actally used it in a game, I didnt do it but the threat of smothering mate made him forced to sacrifice some pawns and I think thats how you should use this list. You probuably wont be able to make a suprice mate on an opponent unless its blitz but the threat of it makes your opponent forced to make unpleasant moves.

smothered mate is beautiful in its simplicity.

Legall's is fantastic; I usually spend so much time trying to set up an ideal position that I ignore those golden early oppurtunities.

All of these queen sacrifices are beautiful.

Like the dainty Morphy, the handsome Chigorin and even the mystic Tal, I'm a Romantic. I like to tame the wild, or at least try. I love the truly unexpected mates that explode out of the blue. I'm not overly picky, but, while I don't mind a little unsoundness, I demand intensity and forcefulness. Mates, like tactics, flow from positions.
