The Potential's adventure

It was back in about June 09, when 6 young lads joined forces when Pete created Pete's Potentials. We were all so excited, and Ilya joined for good measures too, making the tally of potatoes to 7 and the chief potato.
The tension was huge as we waited for the season to start, but it didn't come round long enough, and one of our players went mad, and adopted the OG position (head banging against the wall).
It was a long, hard wait, and the pirate's wanted the treasure they'd been looking for. They sat, waiting, waiting for the clock to turn 7.30pm, for the 1st league match had come upon them.
It was in Downend, where us potatoes played Downend D, a strong side who we'd feared would eat us up as chips. However, we didn't forsee the outcome, and the result of the night.
Harsh pirate wealybin played on 4, Pete's Potter Gareth played 3, however eager he was to play snooker! On board 2 was me, the eldest spun minus chief potata. And on Board 1 be our head banger on the wall OG, who I'm sure will adopt the OG position throughout the season.
wealybin was a pawn up in the endgame, however he failed to use his lesser-know knowledge of endgames in his match, and lost it
. Gareth had a tough match against another young junior, in the likes of a previous potentialer Alec, who left for Downend. Gareth failed to win his match, due to the strength of his opponent, who may I add I can beat quite easily
.
Boards 1 and 2 took much longer games, especially mine going down to the wire. OG sadly adopted the OG position, after a won position in his game, it was a tense one though, both players with strong attacks.
My game was a story in itself, check out my blog on my 1st league game, it was a strange game, which I eventually won, but probably not how you'd expect. Still, none of us foresaw that we wouldn't get whitewashed, and that we'd only lose 3-1, against a very strong opposition.
We were all so happy after this win, however only Pete and I knew, due to the fact the others had run off home to get some well earned sleep. I told them the next day; I think they were happy about it!
Hanham C were our next opponents, and Ilya making his league debut, it would be a tough match for our opponents. No changes in the top 2 boards, and Adi finds his way into board 3.
The first game to end was our young chap Ilya, who , may have to take up an Ilya position, due to a won position, then lost it. Still, great performance from you Ilya, next time I'm sure you'll do great!
OG shortly followed to finish, taking an easy-ish win from board 1; OG totally destroyed his opponent, winning material left, right and centre. So 1-1, and Adi and I were left.
Adi had a nasty opponent, who kept nagging, trying to claim a win from a poor Year 7 potato. Still, he kept moaning here and there, so it caused havoc.
My game however was a much quiter game, however a tenser one than Adi's to be honest. I played my famous king's gambit which worked a treat, but somehow I managed to lsoe my great position.
It cam down to the wire on time for both our games, but Adi showed what he was made of, and beat his opponent. Adi's opponent shall now play the Chief Spud when we're away...HAH!
Soon after this, my opponent ran out of time, just after he'd blundered a bishop. So from a match that looked like we might only scrape a draw, we managed to win 3-1. GO POTATOES!!! LEMME HEAR YA SAY POTATOES!!!
Next match, Horfield D on Tuesday!!! Go the Potted Plants!!!
