About a month ago, a friend of mine won a chess tournament.  One afternoon, she taught me the basics of the game:  how each piece moves across the board, the value of each piece, and their strengths and weaknesses.  By the end of the afternoon, I was ready to learn more. 

A few weeks later, another friend taught me some of the openings and strategies that he had learned over the years.

Ever since then, I have found the game to be very interesting!
