Hey man long time no play...

I recommend the dragon as black. A simple fundamental opening and one which can really hurt white if he doesn't know what he's doing. Another is the Caro-kann. Can be a double bladed sword but if you play smartly and don't push the f pawn in the frst 20  moves or something, you got a good chance.

Wish you luck and hopeful for a game,

chaingan20  At one time in my youth I was pretty good and I owe that to Bobby Fishers book "Bobby Fisher teaches chess". My advice to you would be to try to get your hands on a copy. It's more of a study than a read, but you don't need to set up a chess board or anything. He teaches about back rank checks, forks, ect and I think is one of the best books on the game I've ever read.

Let me know if you'd like to play some time.

Good luck

Ron,  (Norron)
