The Game of Kings

I enjoy playing chess, because I feel that while playing I'm able to rule my kingdom using the pieces given to me at the start of the game. You have the pawns; those who believe the King is worth dying for.Left outside the kingdom witch it came from. With only one primary purpose, to cross the other side of the board and becoming a queen.                                                                                                         Then you have the bishop; the one whose long garments hid daggers that could be thrown with deadly force and allow entry to the ones whom had traveled with him on the battlefield .Yes I'm talking about  the Knight; whose swords were feared when in the trenches, that witch can slaughter many with just one fierce blow. Then you have the rooks also called castles, those that stand tall from the corner of the kingdom to advance to the field inprisoning  those that stand in the way of the rest of army that are in the battlefield.

that is a very nice concept ,I did remember that elaphants were used in battle, and if ,again you look at the game I believe it was invented in Asia, some say India and some believe Persia or Iran . One thing is certain thatis was made for a king by a prince.

It's the rook that developed from the elephant. The mount on the elephant's back had the same tower shape.

The bishops were so named because of their resemblance to the caps worn by bishops. They are not even called bishops (or the equivalent). In French, the bishop is called le fou (the fool), also because of the similarity to a fool's cap.

Although there have been warrior bishops in history, I guess the figure of the bishop came from the elephant, which were used in the ancient battles.  Perhaps you remember the Lord of the Rings trilogy?

Very nice outlook about the game of kings, Mr. Charlierock. I sometimes feel the same way but you made me more knowledgeable about bishop with long garments that hid their daggers. It's cute. I only thought that the bishop is like a religious leader.

I can add that if your king is a little 'playboy', he can promote as many as 9 queens on his side.

I'll try to write an article about the ongoing 2008 Palau National Championship if the line that I'm using now will do good in the coming days.

Good luck and good job.
