2008 Mid-America Open - game 2

Submitted by chessiq on Thu, 03/06/2008 at 6:06am.

Here is my second game of the 2008 Mid-America Open tournament. It was the Slav Defense of QGD. I was happy with how I had relentless pressure against the Black King. I later sacrificed a pawn for a winning attack... I have annotated the game and I welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions.

Thanks for the advice chessiq!

I looked over my game a bit and i played the f4 attack against his scillian and doubled his pawns but did not take advantage of it

Jacob_WSC, Good work!! I checked out the results - and I saw that you lost just one game to the eventual winner of your section, Slattery. We all lose to somebody sometimes. You just have to go through your game, and see what you can learn from it. The other thing I do is that I go over my day and games and try to remember what I was thinking or feeling - fears, overconfidence and all that, and try to find how I can be in control of all that. I know you didn't ask for advice - but I just thought I should share my life experiences. I miss the times when I would go to play club tournaments when I was in school. So enjoy it while it lasts!

Once again, keep up the good work!

I guess I need to read my profile, huh?!

I figured that by the time I have $100,000 in disposable income, I would have gained enough experience to be able to be a GM in 2 years. All I would do would be travelling, studying and playing Chess. I believe it can can be done, but I don't think it will be in the next two years.

I played in the U-1200, in your profile it says that your goal once you "have $100,000 disposable income, devote 2 years to become a grandmaster"

Thanks all!

Vulpoon, what section did you play? You can send me a message/email with the info if you don't mind.

BruiserMac, I am not sure I mentioned that I was going to be a GM in 2 years. It would be nice, but that is not one of my goals at the moment.
