Do you use the "Analysis Board?"

I've been thinking: is it a good idea to use the analysis board? Will it help me win correspondance games but hinder me in the long run by preventing me from developing my calculation skills?

I've also been thinking if it's just lame to use the analysis board because it's kind of like the "training wheels" for chess. What do you think? Should you use the analysis board or not?

It's correspondance chess, not live chess.

If you don't use it, you're deliberately ignoring the whole point of correspondance chess.

I use it too much as well.  I think it's hindering my ability to just think.  Everytime I use it, I'm reminded of Searching for Bobby Fischer: "Don't move until you see it... don't move until you see it."

it is classless to use the analysis board, especially when ur opponent is not using it!

I would just like to know why chess.com put there for in the first place.

I agree with you all, I think it's obvious that it doesn't help your chess abilities if you use it, but are you giving yourself a disadvantage by not using it in correspondence chess? After all, your opponent may be using it.

I think I wish that it was not a feature on Chess.com.

But if you play in real tournament, you can't use a analysis board, so you should get the habit of not using the analysis board. So I never use it.

I was thinking the same thing, i read a post on the analysis capabilities of this program and that program. I dont know maybe im too much in rookieville to know any better but i preffer to do my own analysis. Or at least try.
