me and turn based chess

Submitted by costelus on Fri, 03/21/2008 at 9:52pm.

I apologize to all I played correspondence chess on March 21. I resigned in all the games I had left. I simply cannot play this... waiting a day for a move is too much for me. I forget the position and in order to play well I have to spend too much time trying to understand it... I will never play again.

While I can imagine your frustration, personally I really enjoy turned based chess, and I am glad to see you explain why you resigned to the people that you were playing.  I am also of the belief that you should have stuck it out and finished the games that you had started.  Win, lose, or draw i believe your opponents would have preferred to finish the games.

Well I think turn based chess is good, and better than real time. It allows you to analyse the game more and get more involved in the thought process. When you average out the time spent on any one game I suppose it is the equivilent to a 2hr game. In blitz games of 5mins to 10/15mins I believe an element of luck is involved and I personally find it hard to enjoy that kind of game. Thats my opinion anyhow.
