what do we do with points??

i have noticed that we get points every time we chat or something like it but i wonder what we do with them

we use them to see how active someone is with the site.....In other words I think it is the sites way of trying to get people to be more active on the web site but we do nothing with the points....when I joined they had a thing where you get a free t-shirt when you hit 1000 points but they discontinued that so the points are for nothing really
