afraid to fail

i feel that overcoming the "fear of failing" when playing a higher ranked player is extremely challenging but a worthwhile endevour. i hope it helps in overcoming other daunting challenges in life.

Great subject. For me, taking on a higher ranked player sometimes gets into my head. So much so that I will overthink my moves instead of going with my instinct. Now, I do have a couple of wins against guys who are ranked way higher than my highest ever ranking. It can be a daunting task as you say. To put a sports analogy to it, it's like the Dallas Stars going up against the Detroit Red Wings in hockey. The Texas Rangers taking on the New York Yankees or the Boston Red Sox in baseball. The Dallas Mavericks vs. the LA Lakers in basketball. Do you see a pattern emerging ? My local sports teams keep breaking my heart ! " Fear of Failing ", a great subject for me to analyze and overcome...
