vacation and tournament

i dont think that vacation should be allowed in tournaments.  what is the purpose of quick or one day per move if  one can just go on vacation in the middle of the game. it do not make any sense. resign or keep playing. no one should have to wait beside the tournament time limit.

I think I am too old and grey to even comtemplate a tournament.  If one of you kind participants can advise me of the point and need to enter tournaments, then maybe I could be pursuaded to look more closely at the benefits.  It smacks of clandestine organisations, or is that too much of a give away to suggest that people entering tournaments are feeling they need to 'belong' .

I obsolutely agree that tournaments should be free of unnecessary vacations whichis disrupting the momentum of the games.......

i agree too, after all in a real tournament how daft would it be if a contestant made his move and said "see you in a couple of weeks, i'm going on vacation" he would have to forfeit.
